Via the seller: "I did quite a bit of research on this piece so bear with me. Extremely rare early Banana Republic piece. There is no indication on any of the tags that it is BR, however the label includes bananas and some other key features from the brand and it wasn’t uncommon for Mel and Patricia Ziegler to play with words, especially during this time. I also found evidence of pieces being made in France early on."
